What should you be earning from paying writing jobs online?

A few dollars or a few THOUSAND dollars?

So how much do you make from your online writing efforts? A few dollars every month? Every week? Maybe you're a bit better off than that and you've graduated to the hundreds of dollars category. Or maybe you are in the realm of the full time writers and it's a four figure sum you're thinking of.

But knowing what your earnings are now is just part of the equation. The other part is knowing what you would like to be earning in the future. My first goal was to earn $100 a month. Then I upped it to $1,000 a month. Then I upped it again... and finally I was earning more than any other full time job could pay me with my skills.

This is not meant to be showing off. I just want to show you that whatever your goals are initially, you can achieve them and then you can improve on them. The trick is to set that first goal and then work at achieving it by finding whatever paying writing jobs you want to do.

Are the coins mounting up for you yet with your online writing?

Working on your online writing goal

Here is what you need to do.  Set a goal for yourself right now.  Let's say you decide that $50 a month is what you want to achieve.  That's fine - it's a solid figure and a good start.

So now you have to figure out how you will do that.  Look at the sites you are using now.  Could they help you earn that money?  If not, move on and find other writing sites and writing jobs to help you achieve your goal.  When you finally make it, write down some notes that explain how you did it.

Now, set a NEW goal.  Could you achieve that new goal by expanding on the methods you used to hit the $50 goal?  Or do you need to find some new methods?  Work out the answers and work towards your new goal.  Then set another one, and so on.

This is how I worked my way up from writing in my spare time - mainly in the evenings - to writing full time as I do now.  And many of the methods I use to help me find writing jobs are the same ones I used back then to find my very first one.  The trick is to multiply what you are doing to get the best possible results.

So if you are serious about earning a set amount from your writing, why not start now?  Whether your goal is $10, $50 or $1,000, it will always start with that very first step.
