Autopost with Ping.fm – how to auto post to all your social media websites in five easy steps
By missymoo
Promoting your blog via autoposting (made easy)
Most of us know that social media sites are a great way of raising your profile online. And Ping.fm is the best way to make sure you can update every single one of them every time you post a new item to your Wordpress blog.
If you're sick and tired of publishing blog posts or anything else via your own Wordpress blog online and then having to go to all of your social media sites to tell people about it, those hard times are at an end. Ping.fm makes it superbly easy to update all your top social media websites at once, without having to take huge chunks out of your day in the process.
This hub has been created to walk you through what you need to do. Read it all thoroughly, get your Ping.fm account and then get started. You'll be glad you spent a few minutes reading this first!
Introducing Ping.fm
Here’s how it works
Step 1 – get your WPing.fm plugin
You need to go into the admin
section of your blog to get this. Search
for WPing.fm (make sure you search for exactly that as there are a few plugins
related to Ping.fm. When you have found
it, install it and activate it. This shouldn't take too long to do if you're familiar with Wordpress and you've already got your blog or website set up.
Step 2 – get your API key
Find the WPing.fm plugin under your settings. Click on it and scroll down the page. You will see two links – one to go to Ping.fm to get an account and another one to get an API key.
Make sure you register for an account first. After that, get your API key and copy and paste it into the box given. Then click on ‘save key’ underneath to save it.
Step 3 – start adding social media networks to your Ping.fm account
The easiest way to start with this is to add the ones you are already a member of. When I did this the first one I added was Twitter. Then I just kept going back over time and added new ones in as and when I joined them. Easy!
Just select ‘add network’ next to the one you want to add and follow the instructions. They will differ for each site but they are all easy enough to follow.
As you add new ones to your account your dashboard page will change to reflect it. Here’s mine at the time of writing:
Step 4 – keep adding more social media networks!
I am steadily working my way through
most of the ones that Ping.fm has listed.
Doing a couple each night makes it easier and not so tedious. But remember – once you have done them all
you don’t have to do them again. It's a one time deal that is well worth investing the time in. The more social media networks you have on there, the better the results you'll get in the long run.
Step 5 – publish a new blog post and see what happens
You will find that if you log into all your separate social media accounts, every single one of them will have been updated to say you have published a new blog post. How easy is that?
You can easily publish to several dozen social media sites without even lifting a finger. I love Ping.fm and it is particularly good if I publish a hub and then publish a blog post saying I have published a new hub!
Try it yourself to see how you get on. Good luck and have fun!
Have you tried Ping.fm?
Each to their own, jonkarna! Personally I have found it indispensable, and it has definitely made a difference with traffic.
I also use it on my website. It is awesome! Check it at http://www.theinfostrides.com It is indeed recommendable.
this is great info hub... Im looking for ways to get my work more automated, this should get me some help
thanks
Great info. Exactly what I was looking for. I've found that you can outsource the creation of all the ping.fm accounts for about ten bucks (I think at lexorsoft.net or something) Then post away, and wait for the traffic.
it looks useful info. i will try this soon.
Great! Thanks For Sharing.
thanks for the post!
Thanks for the useful information. I hope I can use it through hubpages rather than have to split blogging between Wordpress and Hubpages.
