Earn residual income from your writing
59Is it possible to get a good residual income from your writing?
In short, yes. But you shouldn't expect it to come overnight. Some writers disagree with the whole idea of trying to earn a residual income rather than being paid a flat rate from their articles. And I can understand this.
I work full time as a writer, and the vast majority of my income comes from producing articles, blog posts and eBooks for other clients. I am paid a one off fee for every item, and that brings in a very nice income for me.
But I still like to shoot for some residual income as well, which is why you will also find me on sites like Hubpages and Squidoo. I get a small amount each month from Squidoo, but I know people on Hubpages who earn three figures every month from their Google Adsense accounts, and I intend to join them in that respect.
Residual income from articles is a numbers game
This is the one thing you need to remember. The more hubs you have on Hubpages - and indeed the more articles you publish on other sites elsewhere that bring in a residual income - the better your earnings will be.
Personally I think Hubpages offers more potential for good earnings than many other sites do. And I have read enough reports from other users who say their earnings keep on going up over time as well - even if they don't publish anything new.
The key thing to remember here though is that you need to constantly evaluate your progress and write more articles in those areas that are working well for you. For example if you write an article about blocked drains and an article about working from home, and the second one gets more views, better click throughs and more residual income for you than the first one, you will be better off writing more about that subject in future.
The benefits of residual income
Once you get to the stage where you are bringing in a three figure income from residual earnings each month, you can actually stop writing and still benefit from that same income coming in all the time.
There are plenty of hubbers who have achieved this, and many other writers have done something similar elsewhere online as well. It doesn't matter if all your residual income comes in from a single site, or from a mix of several sites. All that matters is that you are earning that reliable amount all the time.
So don't dismiss the idea of earning a residual income by writing articles for websites like this. It takes a little effort and a regular one at that, but it DOES work.

Missy - Hubpages allows its members to retain publishing rights for their own articles. Those can be sold elsewhere, with or without modification, while still keeping them working for you on Hubpages.
